Social Innovation Laboratories by Red CreActiva are training workshops which provide the opportunity for professionals from social entities, organisations and public administration to explore the field of Social Innovation, to find out what role they can play in this field and to implement innovative ideas, not only in the social projects they create, but by way of applying, conceiving and presenting new ideas.

If we look at the agendas of our political parties, we realise that practically no one has mentioned social entrepreneurship and social innovation. The European Union along with various international institutions has stressed time and time again the importance of promoting apparatus such as these, yet in Spain it is hardly even addressed; its reach is basically limited to the regional level, as in the paradigmatic case of the Basque Country. As social problems mount ever higher and the youth unemployment rate remains one of the highest in Europe, political stimulation of social innovation and social entrepreneurship have become pressing issues.

In light of this situation, in 2014, Red CreActiva organised four Political and Social Advocacy Summits in Barcelona, Donostia, Madrid, and Valencia, and we now bring you the conclusions.

For four years we have enjoyed strong ties with the Fundación Rigoberta Menchú with whom we have collaborated on various projects. At our last meeting in Guatemala we agreed to support the socially responsible tourism project in the San Lucas Tolimán area and for that we are counting on the collaboration of CETT. Yasmin García, studying for her Masters in Business and Marketing on-line, has worked on the concept and development of the Project “Responsible Tourism in San Lucas Tolimán”.
